Project officially named OpenClaw. Released new Logo, completed trademark search, and brought major security updates (34 security commits) and new model support.
Moltbot Era
To comply with Anthropic's trademark request, Clawdbot was briefly renamed Moltbot (meaning molting). This was a transitional name symbolizing the project's growth and change.
Birth of Clawd (Clawdbot)
Peter Steinberger created Clawd as a weekend hack project. Initially just a simple WhatsApp AI agent, it quickly went viral on GitHub, gaining thousands of stars.
Why OpenClaw?
"Open" represents open source and an open ecosystem, "Claw" keeps the Lobster mascot gene. This name was generated during a community brainstorming session, representing the project's vision as open infrastructure.
